Metal polish is coarser, but might be OK as a first cut. Then finish with the plastic headlight resorer. Try a small area away from the LEDs if you're not sure. An electric buffing wheel is really useful for this kind of thing! The ones I'm thinking of are made up from layers of cloth like this...
