ICELED has teamed up with Litewave to develop a revolutionary Fibre Optic light source. Fiber Optics have traditionally been illuminated by halogen lamps with motorized colour wheels providing a small number of fixed colours. The halogen lamps get very hot and require cooling fans. They also burn out rather quickly and need frequent changing. By using powerful, state of the art LEDs, a different sort of compact projector has been made possible. This stays cool, is totally silent and can reproduce the full visible spectrum from over two million colours.

CoolFusion is capable of operating like any other ICELED light source and produces coloured light equivalent to a 35 Watt Halogen lamp in a typical Fiber Optic projector application.

Litwave have a selection of packages on offer including Fiber Optic looms. For more details visit The Litewave Website

Wow! This probably has even more uses than the Medusa-type setup. Fiber tips should be much easier to place and hide than tri-color LEDs.

Keep up the good work, guys!

Wow!

That is awesome!

On the litewave site it says that it can do colour sweeps? Does that mean it replicates the patterns that you get from using a colour wheel? Or does that mean you need more than one projector?

Can think or so many more uses than the MEDUSA equivilent.

Keep the toys coming guys!

Luap

HOLY DANG EXPENSIVE!!! $380USD, for a box of ICELED and fiber optic cables.

What makes it so special that we should use that instead of creating our own with either a flood, spot, gem in a metal box with a hole? Seems way too pricey for what it is.

Tinker I feel the Medusa that's been teasing us for over a year and this thing are two entirely different products. One might have inspired the other though. So who knows what's next.;-)

No arguement about them being two different products. Was just making the point that if something is not being released due to having too limited a use, then this piece isn't in much of a different category. Figure it's almost $1200 USD to get the current effect of a color wheel.
Not that I don't have interest in this piece... I just can't put a starfield ceiling in the convertible :)
