I have an idea for a slim designed GEM. I got the idea from this link here:

http://www.garson.co.jp/catalog/garson/ ... ior&page=3

Check out that indirect lighting! That is what I call style! I'm going to work on building the molds myself for the Scion xB. I thought anyone who is into the show scene looking for something new might like this idea.

Cheers!

Uplighters for your car, nice. Shame I have a dark blue interior.

Nice idea  well spotted Spr0ket. Notice the list of car models on the right. It's a bit short of having a fitting for every car.

It looks like those things only use three 5mm white LEDs and have to be fitted with colored filters to get some atmosphere! I don't know about a "slim designed GEM" though - GEM looks much smaller to me and could hardly be any slimmer! I think you could easily make a very slim version of those uplighters using a GEM, some cardboard, some glass mat & resin and a bit of imagination :D

That's exactly what I was thinking Adrian. As soon as I saw that sight it helped me figure out a mod I've been planning on doing to my STi. Just another reason why I can't wait to get back and why I can't wait get some ICELED.

When I get the harness completed and the product in, I'll post some shots of this stuff. I've got a friend of mine who will be helping with the fabrication process. Going to pick up a rough GEM to start working on the fabrication.

Say Spr0ket, when you mentioned rough GEM I hope you realize that this is the one supplied in a waterproof housing...

$m[1]

I would think that the "plung'n'play" GEM was the one you'd be after...

Yeah I think the "plug'n'play" version would work best in that location/design. The smaller the ICELED source the better and more slick of a design you can get. Remember, it's easier to make a larger false housing then it is to shrink the light source.

ACK! yeah, I meant the plug'n'play version. To me "rough" means unfinished and plug'n'play is more along the lines of the completed, ready to go, box.

I'm so confussled.

Murphy's law: If a name can be misinterpreted; it will be! Now you get it - rough as in "rough and tumble" :D

I always wondered why you all named it "rough" I was thinking along the same lines as Spr0ket
