it is true that radar is not the same as a microwave frequency, so it won't cook you as such, but a few 100 megawatts of anything has got to do some damage.

I think you are right there A2I (good to see ya back btw)

I think tho that radar works on a different sort of system as it is sending out a signal and then recieving the same thing back... so it is not transmitting for the same periods of time as say a microwave link etc.

now if my memory serves me correctly (prolly not but anyways) I think radar was in the frequency range above microwave.

its been a while since I did any study on radar now so he old gold fish memory has come about again.. haha

cheers

according to my buddy who works for Lockheed Martin on their Aegis radar systems "Aegis Radar's will kill you" when i asked him how much power they have "Even if I knew, I couldn't tell you" "enough that there are dead birds around the site in moorestown"

he is referring to the "ship in the field" a Naval testing center who's name is self explanitory

and he added "Microwaves are so dangerous because they operate at the frequencies that get absorbed by water, so your cells are screwed because they are made mostly of water.... therefore other frequencies other than microwaves can still be dangerous, it just takes a disproportiante amount of energy and exposure time"

Aegis-class radar (along with quite a few othe systems currently in use) are phased arrays, which means the beam can be modified from wide coverage to a pinpoint in a matter of milliseconds. When all of that energy is concentrated into essentially a pinpoint, you can practically "cook" a missile's/jet's avionics, essentially making it useless. Ask a local navy fighter jock what they do with radar on incoming planes... incoming jets immediately request the radar disabled and/or turned away, amounting to "covering your balls with your hand".

How about radio controlled 1ft tubes and Gems for the Zen? ;)

Hey, back on subject.

I have a friend that just picked up a $160
chinese LED kit that does a good deal for the
price paid, and has a keyfob remote like for
an alarm. He can fire up his LED kit and run
through the patterns at 50'-60'.

It kills me that I paid $600 more then him and
I'm suck with IR with a 25' range at best!

Though my LEDs are probably twice as bright! :)

So, what about true wireless remotes?

Cool Idea, but US Cell systems are different from UK.

Is that going to be an issue?

If not, where do I sign up?

I think Adrain means you can use the bluetooth technology on the phones to control the ICELED lights.

Most new phones have this avaliable in all countrys.
