Hi people,
I was driving home from work today and had my underglow kit on, it usually dead round there so I didnt turn it off, next minute a cop comes round the corner on other side of the road and I nearly pooed myself. He just drove past me and I was checking my mirror all the way home.

Can they send a ticket through the post or if I was going to get in trouble would they have pulled me over?

Im hoping it was just an officer about to finish work and couldn't be bothered to turn round

nope no ticket through post 8)
the law on underglow is there is no law. only law there is was set in the 1800's about white front amber sides and red rear i think
only thing they can do is ask for you to turn off really.
I live right next to a police station... well 30 seconds away and have my lights on all the time ( mainly in street legal mode) but sometimes on all kinds of patterns, never ever been pulled yet and even been followed while using non legal mode and not a murmor off them so id say your safe :D
all depends on attitude of cop really but i dont think a penalty can be enforced

:D

not through the post, the legality relates to reflected light. If you can see the light element, in this case neon element or LED then you can be well and truly done.

There are a couple of offences however:

Section 59 - basically its an antisocial behaviour order for cars and drivers, unlikely to get one unless pulled and you're being objectionable. (2 of these on the car or yourself and the vehicle gets seized, and possibly crushed) Mainly aimed at bad behaviour and dangerous carpark antics of the corsa/saxo brigade.

Next is causing a distraction to other road users. IIRC this is a fine and possibly points, but don't quote me.

Third is, if you have your lights on expect to be pulled and just make sure everything else on your car is totally legal, tyres, numberplate, insurance (have your docs with you if possible), MOT, VED (tax) emissions, normal lights.....list goes on.

I've been "warned" in the mersey tunnel by an oncoming marked car who flashed blues and headlights at me. quite amusing as he had a headlight out!

Just got pulled over and told "your not surpose to have anything but red on the back so if you can change it that be fine, if I were a traffic policeman i could have given you a £30 fine, all the other lights are fine just not the back"

Luckily I have a spare red one, do you think it would look stupid with 3blue and 1 red?
